Porcupine Pufferfish over a Barrel

.
Hey! Where's the fish?

I've seen landscapes painted like this, all soft and fuzzy. They were quite acceptable and nice. Maybe it helps that we've seen trees and fields and cows all our lives, and the mind fills in the details. Hum, not so with reef scenery!

OK, here's the fish.

This is actually the first painting. I started the other painting above with paint left over on the pallette from this one. I'm still tweaking this image, but don't want to over paint. When to stop is always a painter's challenge. And one of these days, I'll learn how to get a plumb photo!

Thanks for stopping by, and reading about my struggling!

  1. Oh, I do like seeing your fish over a barrel! Nice title, too.

  2. Thank you for the encouraging words. I do like this painting. You made it look so much better than the photo. More color.

I envy you living in St Croix. I was there almost 10 years ago and loved it. A beautiful spot to paint.

  3. It's always hard for me too, to know when to stop. I think (at least I hope) I'm getting better the more paintings I do. Or else my eyesight is getting worse!
